Goat beards

The term tragus (the little knobby part of your ear that's above the lobe and across from the curved outside) comes from the Greek for "goat". It is named this way because that is where ear hairs spring from, and someone decided these ear hairs are reminiscent of goats' beards.

There is another little knobby ear part across from the tragus called the antitragus. From here on out, I will imagine it locked in an eternal battle with its counterpart, due to a fundamental disagreement on the function and appropriateness of goat beards in ears.
